Visualizing Time with Thanksgiving Dinner

When assigned with a time-series visualization for class, I wanted to show an expression of the concept of time. This reminded me of Gantt Charts.

This Gantt chart sequences the process of cooking Thanksgiving dinner, a notoriously chaotic act. It has been designed for one person to cook a six to eight person dinner with a standard American kitchen (standard-size oven and four burner stovetop) with all the traditional fixings: Turkey, dinner rolls, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, gravy, cranberry sauce, Stovetop stuffing, pumpkin pie, and whip cream.

The key correlates to the amount of activity and attention necessary at that moment. Energetic patterns symbolize active involvement in that particular step.
