About Me

In fly fishing, if you forcibly try to untangle a knot, you only make it worse. The added tension forces the knot to double down on itself.

When confronted with such a tangle there are two ways to release it: cut the line, cast aside the problem and start anew (this isn’t really sustainable, eventually you will run out of line). Or, you can pause. Look at the knot, learn its overpasses and loops, and resolve the problem.

I approach design with the same tactics I use to unknot my line: time and care. My process is emergent, I allow insights to guide me. Where some anglers simply cut the line, I find a nice spot to perch and undo the tangle. I try to understand what caused the knot in the first place, and continue fishing with a new awareness.

No two knots are alike, no two design problems are alike. Employing a methodology of curiosity, patience and understanding has enabled me to find solutions to both.
